What We Believe

We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures (the Bible) are God’s revelation to us.  God inspired the authors to write the words they wrote (Deuteronomy 1:3; Jeremiah 36:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:12-21).  God’s Word has no errors or contradictions (John 10:35; John 17:17).  God uses these Scriptures to tell us everything we need to know for our salvation. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Luke 16:27-31).

We believe that the true and only God is revealed as “Triune.” He is three distinct persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14),in one undivided God (Deuteronomy 6:4; John 14:9; John 10:30)

We believe that all people are born as sinners.  That means we are all unable to do anything to make ourselves right with God. (Ephesians 2:1; Romans 3:9-20, 23; Romans 5:12)

We believe that Jesus is the only Savior.  As Substitute, Jesus lived a perfect life and died on the cross to pay for every sin of every sinner (John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; Isaiah 53:5-6; 1 Peter 3:18)

We believe that God uses his Gospel in the Bible and the Gospel in the two Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper to credit Jesus’ perfect life and innocent death to us.  These “Means of Grace” create, sustain and strengthen faith.  That faith is what receives everything Jesus has done for all people and makes it ours personally. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 1:16; John 6:63, 68; Acts 2:38-39; 1 Peter 3:18-22; Matthew 26:28-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

We believe that the forgiven sinner now lives in praise to his Savior!  We do that as we regularly gather for worship, work together to educate and support each other and as we proclaim the Gospel to the community and world around us.  We also live for him in day to day life as we do everything to his glory.  (Ephesians 2:10; Hebrews 10:25; Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 10:31)
